527 Sidewalk Grill Slam

Pairs well with:

Zinfandel

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.

Ingredients

2 lbs. 80% ground beef
1/2 Tbsp. Worchestershire sauce
1/3 cup minced baby portabella mushrooms
1/3 cup minced onions
1/2 Tbsp. beef flavored base
3 Tbsps. warm water
6 slices of Swiss cheese (1/2 lb.)
6 slices of center cut black bacon
6 Kaiser rolls
Non-stick cooking spray for the grill
Aluminum foil for the grill

Instructions

Mince the mushrooms and the onions. In a bowl, mix the 1/2 Tbsp. of beef flavored base and the 3 Tbsps. of warm water. Carefully blend the ground beef, Worchestershire sauce, mushrooms, onions and beef flavored base mixture. Make sure that the ingredients are mixed well. Form the meat into 6 patties. Cover the grill rack with aluminum foil. Spray the foil lightly with the non-stick cooking spray. Poke a few holes in the foil. Start up the grill. Put the burgers on the grill when it gets to a medium heat. Grill the patties for 7 minutes on each side or until the desired doneness is achieved. Cook the 6 slices of bacon on the grill for 7 minutes while the burgers are cooking. Top each pattie with a slice of Swiss cheese during the last 2 – 3 minutes of grilling. Transfer the burgers to the Kaiser rolls. Top each burger with a piece of bacon cut in half.
