America’s Great Italian Pizza Burger with Roasted Peppers and Sun-dried Tomatoes

1 grilled onion
1 roasted red bell pepper
1 roasted head of garlic
3/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes packed in olive oil
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 pounds hot italian sausage
2 table spoons parmesan cheese
1 table spoon oregano
1 table spoon basil
2 table spoons Italian dressing
salt and peppper
6 slices mozzarella cheese
6 flannel seed hogie buns
2 table spoons oil from sun-dried tomatoes
vegetable oil for brushing grill rack
sun-dried tomato spread
2 table spoons olive oil



Prepare a mediun hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium high. Slice onion thin and grill on grill rack, grill untill it becomes soft, about 7 minutes.Grill red bell pepper until it is blackens, about 7 to 10 minutes per side. After the pepper has blacken peel off blacken skin and slice pepper into strips. Place head of garlic in aluminum foil and pour 2 table spoons of olive oil over it, wrap foil around garlic and place on the grill rack to roast, about 10 to 15 minutes. When the vegetables are grilled and roasted add sun- died tomatoes and place them in a fire proof skillet and mix together, place on grill to keep warm. To make the patties, combine the beef, sausage, parmesan cheese,oregano, basil, wish-bone dressing in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper. Handling the meat as little as possible to avoid compacting it, mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form into patties to fit the hogie buns. Brush the grill rack with the vegetable oil. Place the patties on the rack, cover, and cook 5 to 7 minutes on each side for medium. While the patties cook prepare the buns by brushing them with the oil from the sun-dried tomatoes.In the last few minutes of cooking, place the buns oiled side down on the grill rack and toast lightly. To assemble the bugers spread sundried tomatoe spread on the bottom cut side of the bun.Place beef patty on top of spread,a slice of mozzarella cheese. cover with sun-dried tomatoes,roasted peppers,onions and roasted garlic. Add tops and serve.Makes 6 burgers.
