Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.


2 lbs ground chuck
1/4 cup grated fresh horseradish
1/2 bunch of finely chopped green onions
2 tablespoons black pepper
1 tablespoon salt
4 tablespoons Sutter Home Zinfandel
1 cup brown mustard slices of red onion slices of roma or beef steak tomatoes
slices of tomatillos slices of havarti cheese
16 slices of crisp turkey bacon
romane hearts



In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, grated horseradish, green onion, black pepper, salt, and zinfandel. Put in refrigerator until ready to grill. Heat grill on med-high for 10 min. Spray extra virgin olive oil on grill to prevent sticking. Form ground chuck into 8 patties. Place on grill. Cook 7-8 min on first side, after turning, spread brown mustard on each burger and cook for the other 7-8 min. the mustard actually becomes a bit crusty. Turn off grill and put on slices of havarti cheese until melted. Bottom of bun place romane, red onion, & 2 slices of turkey bacon, patty over, top off with tomatillos and tomatoes
