Ingredients

2/3 cup mayonaise
1 cup blueberries, coarsely chopped
1 tsp. lemon zest
2 lbs. ground round beef
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
6 oz. crumbled Bleu Cheese
1 Tbsp. Cabernet
1 tsp. ground sea salt
2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
Crusty oblong loaf of French peasant bread cut diagonally – 3/4 " thick
1/2 cup butter, softened
Romaine lettuce sliced thinly to equal 3 cups

Instructions

1. To make blueberry mayonaise, combine the prepared mayonaise, chopped blueberries and lemon zest in a small mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate until ready to assemble the burgers. 2. To make the patties, place ground round in large mixing bowl. Add chopped onion, bleu cheese, cabernet, sea salt and black pepper. Mix gently but well. Divide mixture into six equal portions and form into patties. Place patties on plate and refrigerate until grill is ready. 3. When grill is preheated to medium-hot, brush rack with vegetable oil. Place patties on the rack, cover and cook. Cooking time should be approximately 6-8 minutes on each side. Flip only once during cooking time. 4. While burgers are cooking, spread the bread slices with softened butter on only one side. During the last couple minutes of cooking time toast the buttered side of bread slices on grill. 5. To assemble the burgers, spread grilled bread slices with blueberry mayonaise. Top 1/2 of the bread slices with romaine lettuce. Top romaine with the burgers and the remaining bread slices. Makes six burgers.
