Burgundy Sutter Burger

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon Dijon Mustard
  • 6 Tablespoon Sutter Home Merlot California wine
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon (each) finely chopped fresh thyme, sage, chives, and parsley
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon salt (kosher)
  • 2 Teaspoon black pepper (ground)
  • 6 Onion brioche buns
  • Condiments: Ketchup, mayonnaise, sliced red onion, sliced tomatoes, bibb lettuce

Instructions

  • 1-Prepare a hot fire on grill with charcoals. In a non-reactive bowl, mix ground beef, wine, mustard, herbs, salt and pepper. Do not over mix. Divide into 6 equal quarters and form into 1 inch patties.
  • 2-When charcoal is glowing hot and flames have died down, place patties on an oiled grill, 8 inches from heat. Grill burgers, turning once, until outside is well browned-about 10-12 minutes total for medium-rare to medium.
  • 3-In the last 2 minutes of grilling, add the buns to the grill to toast-open-faced until lightly toasted. Place finished burgers and buns on platters and serve with desired condiments.
