Cabernet Sauvignon Burgers

Cabernet Sauvignon

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.


1 lb. ground beef, prime 10% or less fat
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp Worchestershire sauce
8 ounces of sliced mushrooms
4 slices Havarti cheese
1cup Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon divided
2 pats of butter
4 onion hamburger buns



In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, Worchestershire sauce, pepper and salt. Add ½ cup Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon and mix together thoroughly. Form into 4 even patties. Grill the burgers over medium high heat till medium rare or medium. While burgers are grilling, combine sliced mushroom, 2 pats of butter and ½ cup of Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon in a sauce pan, saute untill mushrooms have wilted and absorbed most of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Grill the buns untill slightly brown and grill marked. Remove the burgers when done, place on grilled buns, top each with a slice of Havarti cheese and sauted mushrooms. Additional toppings can include fresh lettuce leaves, grilled onions and sliced tomatoes.
