Ingredients
Patties:
2 pounds ground turkey breast
1 cup finely-chopped sweet yellow onion
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon good quality poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Cheesy Curry Sauce:
2 cups chopped Broccoli florets (tops only)
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup Hellman’s Light Mayonnaise
3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons curry powder
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup water
6 large slices multi-grain Artisan bread (preferably organic), cut in half
Vegetable oil for brushing grill racks
Colavita extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) for bread
Instructions
To make patties, mix all ingredients and divide into 6 equal portions. Carefully shape into patties; place in a pan and refrigerate or put in cooler with ice.
Place chopped broccoli florets into a baggie and place in refrigerator or cooler. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, blend the soup, mayo, lemon juice, curry powder and cheddar cheese. Cover and place in refrigerator or cooler.
Preheat a gas grill to medium-high and turn on the side burner to high.
In a grill friendly saucepan, place on side burner, pour in water and cover. When the water boils, add the broccoli, cover and turn heat to low. Steam for 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain.
Place a grill friendly skillet on the side burner on medium heat. Add the Cheesy Curry Sauce mixture and the drained broccoli and heat until cheese is melted, stirring often. Brush brush bread halves with EVOO.
Using vegetable oil, brush the grill racks and place patties on the racks. Turning only once, cover and grill or 8 minutes. Turn the patties and place the bread slices, oiled side down, on the grill. Brush the bread tops with EVOO, cover. Turn after 1-2 minutes when lightly toasted. Toast other side the same.
Remove the toasted bread to a work surface and turn off the grill when the patties have finished cooking. Spoon the Cheesy Curried Sauce on the bottom slices of bread, top with patty and spoon on more sauce and top with bread. Makes 6 Burgers.
