Chili Cheese Dog Burgers

Ingredients

2 ½ lbs of ground beef
½ packages of regular size beef hotdogs (sliced into quarters and then diced into small pieces)
1 5oz. (or half of a 10 oz.) can of tomatoes with green chili’s (or jalapeno’s in tomatoes)(drained) ½ small onion (diced small) ½ package of chili mix 1 teaspoon each of: salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic powder 3 tablespoons each of salad dressing mayo and spicy brown mustard. (mix together) 1 packages of Onion style Buns Lettuce 2 10 oz. cans of chili dog sauce 1 8 oz pkg. Of pepper jack cheese, shredded Total prep time: 20-30 min, cooking time 20-30 min.

 

Instructions

Dice onions and hotdogs into small peices (set aside) open and drain tomatoes (set aside) In a small bowl mix together mayo and mustard(set aside) Shred pepper jack cheese (set aside) In a large mixing bowl mix together ground beef, diced hotdogs, tomatoes, onions and spices Make hamburger patties into 1 ½ to 2 inches thick and bun size width, Chill in refrigerator or on ice until grill is fully ready. Put oil on grill grates or spray the grill grate with cooking spray, pre heat gas grill on high with the lid closed for 3-5 min. till approximately 300 degrees. Then lower temp. between low and med. cook burgers on each side for about 10-15 minutes (depends on the thickness) or to about 150 degrees in the middle of burger, less time if you like more on the rare side. Open cans of chili dog sauce and put into a small pan and warm on grill On the bottom bun, slather mayo and mustard mixture, place a good palm size piece of lettuce, place burger on the lettuce, add a large tablespoon of chili sauce on top of the burger then top with the pepper jack shredded cheese add top of bun and serve
