Chrissy’s Blue Ridge Oopah Burgers

Pairs well with:

Moscato

Paired or alone, there's something magical about this creamy wine that nods to yummy peaches and sinful delights.

I love Greek food! Feta cheese is my favorite and I’m a garlic fanatic, so I wanted to add a Greek/Italian zest to my burgers.

Ingredients:

4 lbs. of thawed ground beef
2 cups of crumbled Feta cheese
1 med. sweet onion
4 tablespoons of olive oil
1/4 cup of minced garlic
1 tablespoon of basil
2 tablespoons of oregano
6 large burger buns
4 ounce package of roasted garlic hummus spread
2 cups of sliced black olives

Instructions:

Cover the grill with tinfoil and poke holes for the grease to drain. Heat the grill to a medium flame. Place the ground beef in a large bowl and fold in the Feta cheese. Finely chop onion and add to the burger mix. In a separate bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, basil and oregano. Pour into burger mix. Slide on a pair of plastic gloves and knead ingredients together until thoroughly mixed. Press into ‘THICK’ patties and grill for 30 minutes, or until burger centers are no longer pink. Lightly toast buns on warm grill for approximately 5 minutes.

Spread a thin layer of garlic hummus across the insides of the toasted hamburger buns. Add burgers and top the meat with sliced black olives.

Serves 6 to 8.
