Craig’s Chewy Gooey Blacken Ceeseburger

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.


1 loaf white or wheat deli French bread
1/8 cup chopped onion
2 slices velveeta cheese
1/3 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 teaspoon olive oil
12” X 12” aluminum foil



Preparation #1 cut off desired length of French bread #2 slice French bread in half #3 using palm of hand flatten bread halves as flat as possible #4 lightly coat aluminum foil with olive oil #5 place cheese on one cut side of bread #6 place chopped onion on top of cheese and cover with 2nd half of bread #7 place bread on aluminum foil and fold edges to form small pocket around bread #8 place on top rack of grill #9 press out beef patty ½ inch thick slightly larger then bread #10 coat both sides of beef patty with black pepper and gently rub in #11 place patty on grill to cook #12 when patty is fully cooked open aluminum packet and separate the halves and place the beef patty between the bread and reseal the aluminum foil. #13 leave the burger on the top rack of grill until cheese is completely melted (times varies with temperature and grill type.) #14 remove and enjoy
