Gewurztraminer

Hard to pronounce yet easy to drink, this wine combines lychee fruit and white peach flavors with a hint of spice.

Ingredients

Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sweet relish
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoon diced onions
Patties:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup Gewurztraminer wine
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
1 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil for brushing grill rack
6 seeded sandwich rolls, split
6 slices pepper jack cheese
1 14 ounce can sauerkraut, drained

Instructions

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. To make the sauce, combine in bowl the mayonnaise, vinegar, salt, relish, ketchup, sugar and onions and mix well. To make the patties, combine the ground beef, wine, garlic, caraway seeds and the salt in large bowl. Mix well and divide into 6 equal parts and form into patties to fit rolls. When the grill is ready, brush rack with vegetable. Place patties on the rack and cover. Cook approximately 5-6 minutes per side turning only once. Durint the last few minutes of cooking, place a cheese slice on each pattie and cover to melt. Remove from grill. Place the rolls cut side down on rack to lightly toast. To assemble the burgers, on each roll bottom, place a patty, an equal portion of sauce and a generous amount of saurkraut. Add the roll tops and serve.
