Deb’s Ultimate Burger

Ingredients

2 1/2 pounds ground beef – not lean
1 cup BBQ sauce, your favorite
1 cup finely chopped RITZ crackers
1 t. fresh ground black pepper
1 medium sweet red onion, sliced, rings separated
1 medium red pepper, cut in short strips
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
6 sesame hamburger buns, spread with garlic butter & toasted
6 medium romaine lettuce leaves
6 – 1/4" sliced tomatoes
Ultimate Sauce
1/2 cup miracle whip
1/4 cup hamburger relish
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon lime juice

 

Instructions

Make Special Sauce by mixing Miracle Whip, hamburger relish, lime juice & ketchup together in a medium bowl. Cover & refrigerate until ready to assemble burgers. Combine 6 Tablespoons softened butter with one minced clove garlic. Set aside until we are ready to toast buns. To make patties, mix together gently hamburger, pepper, grounded celery seed, BBQ sauce, and crushed Ritz crackers. Make into patties, making the center thinner than the outside. Cover and put refrigerator while you sautee butter, onion, red pepper & brown sugar together. Cook on medium-low heat until onions & peppers are cooked to crisp tender, but not mushy, about 7-8 minutes. While onion & peppers cook, put patties on the grill that has been brush the grill rack with vegetable oil & heated up. Cover and cook, turning once, until done to preference, 5 to 7 minutes on each side for medium well. During the last few minutes of cooking, lightly spread garlic butter on hamburger buns toast in the oven under the broiler for 1 – 2 minutes until golden browned or toast on grill. To assemble the burgers, on the top and bottom of each roll spread special sauce, place a pattie on the bottom half of each roll, place about 2 tablespoonfuls of the sauteed onions & pepper on the pattie, add a tomato slice and lettuce leaf. Add the roll tops and serve immediately.
