Down South Italian Stuffed Burger

Ingredients

8 Green Onions
4 pcs Sun Dried Tomatoes (Oil Packed)
2 Heaping TBS Pesto with Basil
6 Heaping TBS of Bruschetta Classico
2 Eggs (Beaten)
1/3 Cup of Sutter Home Cabernet
1 TBS (Chopped) Fresh Thyme
1 TBS (Chopped) Fresh Oregano
1 TBS Salt
1/2 TBS Fresh Ground Black Pepper
4# Fresh Ground Chuck
Oil for Grate
6 Kiser Rolls
6 Slices Provolone Cheese (approx 6oz)
Colavita EVOO
Lettuce
Marinara Sauce

 

Instructions

General: Preheat the grill to medium high Stuffing: 1 Chop the green onions and the sun dried tomatoes and place into a small bowl 2 Add the Pesto and Bruschetta into the bowl with the onions and tomatoes, mix, then cover and set aside. . Burger: 1 Beat 2 eggs in a large bowl then mix in 1/3 cup wine, fresh chopped thyme and fresh chopped oregano, salt and pepper. 2 Next, thoroughly mix the ground beef with the egg, wine, herbs, salt and pepper. 3 Separate the meat mixture into 12 equal lightly formed balls and press out each to be slightly thinner on the edges than the center. (shape to a size that is approximately the same or slightly larger than the rolls) 4 Place approximately 1 heaping TBS of the stuffing mix on 6 of the patties and spread to about 1” of the edge of the meat. 6 Top each meat patty with a plain patty and crimp and fold the edges to seal. Grilling: 1 Apply oil to the grill grate 2 Cut Kiser rolls in half ready for toasting on the grill. 3 Place stuffed meat patties on the grill over medium high heat and cook for about 7 to 8 minutes. Carefully turn and cook the second side for about another 6 minutes. 5 A couple of minutes prior to taking the burgers from the grill, top each burger with a slice of Provolone cheese. 4 Place the Kiser rolls, cut side down, on the grill, lightly toast and remove from the grill then lightly spray or brush the toasted side of the rolls with EVOO. 5 Place two pieces of crisp lettuce on the bottom ½ of the toasted Kiser roll. 6 Place the burger directly on the lettuce. 7 Generously coat the top half (cut side) of the toasted Kiser roll with marinara sauce and place atop the burger. 8 Slice as desired and serve immediately.
