4 tablespoons apricot or peach preserves
2 tablespoons White Zinfandel
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 jalapeno chili, seeded, and minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Gourmet Patties
2 pounds fresh ground beef chuck
4 ounces chopped mushrooms
4 ounces crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
4 tablespoons bottled steak sauce, plus 1/4 cup for brushing top of patties
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
Vegetable oil, for brushing on the grill rack
6 sesame seeded buns, split
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard

Instructions

Directions Prepare a medium hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium high. To make the salsa, combine all the ingredients in a bowl and toss gently. Set aside to allow the flavors to blend. To make the patties, combine beef, mushrooms, Gorgonzola cheese, steak sauce, and seasoned salt. Mix well, handling the meat mixture as little as possible to avoid compacting. Divide the mixture and form into 6 equal sized patties. Brush top of patties with remainder of the steak sauce. When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with vegetable oil. Place patties on rack, cover, and cook, turning once, until done for preference, 6 to 8 minutes on each side for medium. During the last few minutes of grilling, place the buns, cut side down, on outer edges of the grill rack to toast lightly. To assemble the burgers, spread the mayonnaise on cut side bottoms of buns. Place a patty on each bottom half and equal portions of salsa. Spread Dijon mustard on bun cut side tops and top off burgers to serve.
