Five-spiced pork burger with fresh mango salsa

Hard to pronounce yet easy to drink, this wine combines lychee fruit and white peach flavors with a hint of spice.


1) 2 lb of ground pork
2) 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
3) 1 teaspoon minced garlic
4) 2 tablespoon Chinese Five spice
5) 2 tablespoon soy sauce
6) 2 teaspoons of kosher salt
7) ½ cup of finely-chopped fresh cilantro leaves
8) 1 large ripen mango, diced
9) 1 whole lemon, juiced
10) 1 teaspoon fresh grounded white pepper
11) 6 medium size sesame burger buns, halved
12) ½ cup sesame oil to grease the grill and the meat patties



Total preparation time about 40 minutes Total grill time about 12 to 15 minutes 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ground pork, ginger, garlic, Chinese Five Spice and soy sauce all together. Mix well with a medium size wooden spoon. Cover the bowl with clear wrap and let it marinate for 10 minutes in the refrigerator. 2. After 10 minutes, remove the meat mixture from the refrigerator. Divide the meat mixture into 8 portions and shape each of them into burger patties, about 4 inches diameter and about 1.5 inches thick. 3. Put all the pork patties on a tray. Brush them with some sesame oil both sides and also sprinkle just 1 teaspoon of the kosher salt evenly on the top side of the pork patties. 4. Cover the pork patties with clear wrap and set aside. 5. Prepare the mango salsa by combining the chopped cilantro, diced mango, grounded white pepper and the 1 teaspoon of kosher salt. Mix well and cover it with plastic wrap and set aside. 6. Light the grill and set it to medium-high heat 7. When the grill is getting to medium-high heat, brush the sesame oil on the grill rack. 8. Grill the burgers about 5 minutes, covered, until a clear charred mark is shown on the burgers. Flip them and cover the grill again. Continue to grill for another 5 minutes. Don’t open the grill before that. 9. when the time is up, insert an instant-read thermometer on the center of one patty and make sure it reaches 160 degree F. if too low, let it grill for another 3 to 4 minutes and turn the grill to medium-low heat zone. 10. Remove the burgers from the grill and let it rest and loosely cover with foil. 11. Brush very lightly of some sesame oil on the sesame burger buns and grill them for 1 minute. 12. Remove the buns from the grill and assemble the burgers with the mango salsa on top of the burger patties. 13. Cut the burger in half and secure with wood skews and serve.
