Garden Burgers

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.


2 lbs lean ground beef
1 tsp seasoning salt
dash of garlic powder
1 Tbs worchestershire sauce
1 1/2 Tbs fresh snipped chives
3 Tbs finely minced red onion
fresh ground black pepper
8 large onion buns
1 onion, sliced in to rings
1 large sliced fresh tomato
8 leaves crisp butter lettuce
8 slices pepper jack cheese
1/2 cup light maypo
1 Tbs smokey chipotle sauce



Combine the first 7 ingredients in a large bowl until well combined. Form in to 8 patties, press to 1/2 -3/4 inch thickness. Cook on grill over medium high heat turning at least twice until desired "done-ness" is achived. Combine miricle whip and tabasco sauce in small bowl, set aside. Place each burger on bottom onion bun that has been napped with miricle whip sauce, top with pepper jack, onion rings, tomato, and lettuce. Spread another layer of miricle whip sauce on top bun, and place on top of lettuce.
