2 1/2 pounds ground chuck
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons course-ground black pepper
2 tsp. minced garlic or 1 fresh clove of garlic (minced)
3/4 cup Coca-Cola (Classic, not Diet)
Vegetable oil for brushing on grill
6 sesame seed hamburger buns, split
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
1 small Vidalia onion (slice and seperate into rings)
1 medium tomato (sliced)
6 iceberg lettuce leaves (torn to size)

Directions: Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. To make patties, mix ground chuck, salt, pepper and garlic. Add cola last and lightly mix with fork to distribute evenly through meat. Pat into six patties by hand, being careful not to compress too firmly but firmly enough to stay together. When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with vegetable oil. Place the patties on the rack, cover, and cook, turning once, until done to preference, 6 to 8 minutes on each side for medium or 7 to 9 minutes on each side for medium well. While burgers are cooking, warm buns in aluminum foil covered pan in oven. Remove just before assembling burgers. To assemble burgers, spread buns on both sides with the mayonnaise, divided equally. On each roll bottom, place a hamburger patty topped with ketchup next to meat, then tomato slice followed by a few onion rings and a lettuce leaf. Add top bun and serve. Makes 6 large burgers
