Grande French Fry Nacho Burger
Ingredients
- Cheese Sauce:
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 2 Tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 Cups milk
- 1/8 Teaspoon nutmeg, freshly ground
- 1/4 Teaspoon salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon pepper
- 1 Cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Toppings:
- 6 Handfuls (about 6 cups) store bought French fries
- 6 Bacon slices, diced small
- 1/2 Cup red onion, diced small
- 1/2 Cup scallion (green parts), chopped
- 1 Large tomato, diced small
- 3 Jalapeno peppers, sliced thin
- 1 1/2 Cups romaine lettuce, sliced small
- 3/4 Cup sour cream Burger:
- 3 Pounds ground chuck beef 80/20
- 3/4 Pound ground sausage meat
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons chili powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- 12 Slices pepper jack cheese
- 6 Kaiser rolls
Instructions
- 1. In a medium size sauce pan, melt butter, whisk in flour and cook on medium heat for a couple of minutes
- 2. Slowly whisk in milk, continuing to whisk until thickened
- 3. Stir in salt, pepper, nutmeg and cheese
- 4. Continue to cook until cheese has melted
- 5. Place French fries on a cookie sheet and cook according to package directions
- 6. In a large frying pan, cook bacon on both sides on medium-high heat until browned and crispy
- 7. Drain on paper towel
- 8. Dice and chop all topping ingredients
- 9. Preheat grill
- 10. Place chopped meat and sausage in a large mixing bowl, add in chili powder and mix until just mixed through (do not over mix)
- 11. Make 6 patties, season burgers with a generous amount of salt and pepper
- 12. Cook burgers on the preheated grill on medium-high heat for about 3 minutes on each side, or until almost cooked through, only flipping once during cooking
- 13. Place 2 slices of cheese on each burger, close grill lid to melt cheese
- 14. Remove burgers and let rest a couple of minutes
- 15. Place a burger on each Kaiser roll bottom, evenly add fries to each burger, top each evenly with cheese sauce, bacon, red onions, scallions, tomatoes, peppers and lettuce
- 16. Drizzle each with sour cream
- 17. Top each burger with a top roll and serve. Enjoy!
