GRANDMA’S ITIALIAN SUNDAY BURGERS

Ingredients

Patties
1.75 pounds-Ground chuck
2 teaspoons-Freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons-Salt
1 teaspoon-Chopped fresh oregano
2 teaspoon-Grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon-Chopped fresh Basil
2 cloves-Finely chopped garlic
1-Egg
1-Finely chopped white onion
Tomato sauce
1 teaspoon-Freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoon-Salt
1 tablespoon-Red wine
1 teaspoon-Chopped fresh oregano
1 teaspoon-Grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon-Chopped fresh basil
2 teaspoons-Sugar
1 cup-Tomato paste
Cheesy topping
1 teaspoon-Freshley ground black pepper
2 teaspoon-Salt
1 teaspoon-Chopped fresh oregano
3 tablespoons-Grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon-Chopped fresh basil
2 cloves-Finely chopped garlic
1 pound-Ricotta cheese
Garlic bread
1 teaspoon-Freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon-Finely chopped fresh Oregano
2 teaspoons-Grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon-Finely chopped fresh basil
3 cloves-Finely chopped garlic
3 tablespoons-Extra virgin olive oil

6 slices of sandwich style Pepperoni

3 loaves-Italian bread with sesame seeds

 

Instructions

Preheat a gas grill to medium-high.

First take the loaves of sesame seeded Italian bread and cut the ends off and discard. Then cut the remainder of the loaves into 3 equal portions each. ( You want to do this first so you get an idea how to shape the burger patties.

To make the patties, combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form the portions into oval patties to fit the bread slices. Set aside.

To make the sauce combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Set aside.

To make the cheesy topping combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Set aside.

To prepare the bread combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
After the loaves of bread have been split use a brush to equally distribute the mixture from the bowl onto the halves. Set aside.

When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with extra virgin olive oil. Place the patties on the rack, cover, and cook about 3 minutes. Turn the patties. Put 1 slice of sandwich style Pepperoni on top of each pattie. Put equal portions of the sauce on top of each pattie. Then put equal portions of the cheesy topping on top of each pattie, cover, and cook about 6 minutes. During the last minute of cooking, place each half loaf of bread, cut side down, on the outer edges of the rack to toast evenly and lightly.

To assemble the burgers, on each bread bottom, place a patty. Add the bread tops and serve.
