Grilled Hamburgers with Wine and cherry Tomato Relish

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.


1/2 cup of fresh lime juice
1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro
1/3 cup of soy sauce
1/4 cup of Sutter Home red wine
3Tablespoons of grey poupon mustard
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 teaspoons of grated lime zest
2 teaspoons of cumin
2 teaspoons of dried oregano
2 teaspoons of fresh ground pepper
1-2 pound package of fresh ground chuck
Wine and cherry Tomatoe Relish
3 Tablesppons of balsamic vinegar
2 Tablespoons of grey poupon mustard
3/4 cup of olive oil, extra virgin
2 Tablespoons of chopped fresh oregano
2 Tablespoons of diced mild chillies
4 green oinons, finely chopped
3 cups of finely halved cherry tomatoes
salt and pepper to taste



Whisk together the lime juice, cilantro, olive oil, soy sauce,wine, garlic, lime zest, cumin, oregano and pepper in a medium bowl. Pour the marinade over the meat and refrigerate for at least 2 hours in a covered bowl. Make into eight large sized hamburger patties.Grill the meat over hot coals for 10-12 minutes or unitl the meat has reached the desired doneness. Serve on fresh buns or by itself with wine cherry toamto relish. Decorate the plate with parsely and red pimentos. serve warm.
