Hang Ten Turkey Burger
Ingredients
Meat mixture
1.5lbs fresh ground turkey
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 whole egg, large
1 tbs sesame oil
1/4 tsp ground ginger
4 tbs teriyaki sauce
1/4 cup sesame seeds,unsalted
1/4 cup finely chopped macadamia nuts, unsalted
1/4 cup shredded sweet coconut
Condiments:
Fresh romaine lettuce
Grilled Pineapple slices
Bun:
warmed on grill sesame seed bun
Grill Rack:
olive oil spray
Instructions
Place the turkey in a glass bowl. add 1/2 cup oatmeal and mix very well. Add 1 whole large eggs and 1 tbs sesame seed oil. Mix well. Add giner, teriyaki sauce. Mix well. Add sesame seeds, macadamia nuts and coconut. Mix well. Form into six patties. Place in refrigerator until ready to cook. Turkey, like other poultry can carry salmonella so practice good kitchen hygiene. Open sliced pineapple and place on dish and cover. Clean and prepare fresh romaine lettuce pieces. Cover. use clean gas grill. Remove rack and spray with olive oil spray on both sides well and set aside. Light grill on high and keep at high for about three minutes to heat up. Reduce to meduim heat and add rack Place burgers on grill and cover. Cook for about 5 minutes then flip and cook another five minutes covered. You want to cook throughout Check with meat thermometer to make sure it reached high enough for poultry. Visually there should be no pink color. Remove burgers. Place buns, open and inside down and pineapple slices on grill. warm medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes. Place warm pineapple , turkey burger and lettuce on warm sesame bun.
