Hot Brown Burger

Ingredients

Cheese Sauce
1 egg
1/4 C unsalted butter
1/4 C milk
6 heaping Tablespoons of freshly grated parmesan cheese
1 oz. whipping cream
Patties
12 slices thick cut bacon(six for filling and six for garnish)
1-1/4 lb. ground round
1 lb. ground chuck
1/4C Sutter Home Merlot
1 t. minced garlic (from jar)
salt
pepper
6 Tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese.
3 oz. shredded cooked turkey breast
12 slices French bread (cut 3/4" thick)
olive oil for grill
Garnish
6 Tablespoons Cheese Sauce
6 slices tomato
6 slices cooked bacon

 

Instructions

Cheese Sauce Prepare medium hot charcoal grill. Beat egg in small bowl. Set aside. Place 1-1/2 quart saucepan on prepared grill. Melt butter, being careful not to burn. Whisk in flour to make a thick roux. Gradually add milk, constantly whisking until there is no raw flour taste ( about 8-10 minuts). Whisk in the parmesan cheese and remove from heat. Cool slightly. Add egg and whisk. Put pan back on heat until sauce is thick ( do not boil or the sauce will curdle). Remove from heat and stir in whipped cream. Cover and set aside. Patties In 10" nonstick frying pan, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Crumble six slices of bacon. Reserve the other six pieces for garnish. Mix ground round, ground chuck, merlot, and minced garlic in a large bowl. shape misture into 12 equally sized patties. Place six patties on a tra. On each patty, spread 1 Tablespoon cheese sauce,sprinkle 1 oz. parmesan cheese, and then shredded turkey and crumbled bacon. Top each prepared burger with one of the remaining meat patties. Gently pinch the edges of the top and bottom patties together to seal in the filling. Brush oil onto prepared medium hot grill Cook the burgers for about 6-8 minutes on each side, turning once. Burgers should be medium well done. As burgers are cooking, place bread on grill to toast. To assemble, place each burger on a piece of toast. Garnish with 1 Tablespoon cheese sauce then a slice of tomato. Break each piece of bacon in two. Place two bacon stips criss-crossed onto tomato slice. Put slice of toast on top. Enjoy!
