India Burger with Curry Aioli

Pairs well with:

White Zinfandel

With strawberry and melon essences, this American original is perfectly at home with however you like to unwind.


1.5 lbs. lean ground beef
.5 cup diced dried apricots
3T diced golden raisins
3T diced sundried tomatoes (not oil-packed)
3T pinenuts, toasted
1/8t black pepper
1/8t salt
1 large red onion, sliced
6 small pita
1.5 cups alfalfa sprouts
.5 c mayonnaise
1T curry powder



Combine beef, apricots, raisins, tomatoes, pinenuts, pepper and salt and mix well. Form into 6 patties, about one-third of a pound each. Oil grill and set on medium high heat. Split pitas in half horizontally and grill "inside-down" for 2 minutes. Grill burgers for 1.5-2 minutes per side. Layer the following: One slice of pita, burger patty, one slice of onion, .25 cup of sprouts. Combine the mayonnaise and curry powder. Spread 1T on each remaining half of pita. Top burgers with curry mayo pita.
