kentucky bourbon burger

1 1/2lbs ground chuck
1 1/2lbs ground sirlion
1cup kentucky bourbon
1cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cilantro fresh and chopped
1/4 cup lemon juice fresh
2tbs worcestershire sauce
2tsp fresh thyme
1cup shredded green cabbage
1cup shredded red cabbage
2cups mayo
1/4cup dijon mustard
1 1/2 cups crumbled blue cheese
pinch salt and pepper
6 kaiser buns
oil for grill



to make patties: combine chuck,sirlion,bourbon,brown sugar,cilantro,lemon juice,worcestershire sauce and thyme.handle the meat as little as possible to avoid compacting it as you mix it. divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form patties to fit the buns. to make bluecheese slaw: mix green cabbage,red cabbage,mayo,mustard,blue cheese and salt and pepper. prepare a medium-hot fire on charcoalgrill with cover or preheat a gas grill to medium high. when grill is ready brush the grill rack with oil. place burgers on the rack cover and cook turn only once after about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium. meanwhile butter and toast the buns. assemble the bourbon burgers: place cooked burgers on toasted hot buns spoon blue cheese slaw mixture on top of burger put top of bun on.
