Lasagne Burgers

Ingredients

Filling:

7 heaping TBS of Ricotta (whole milk)
2 TBS Romano & Parmesan blend grated cheese
2 tsp Italian Seasoning blend
1 Egg yolk

Burgers:

3 cups water – for noodles
6 lasagne oven ready noodles – chopped
2 ¾ lbs ground chuck
1 cup Romano & Parmesan blend grated cheese
2 tsp Italian Seasoning blend
1 egg
½ cup Italian bread crumbs
¾ cup of jar Sausage spaghetti sauce
2 TBS sun dried tomato out of a tube
2 TBS Sutter Home merlot wine

Colavita Olive Oil for brushing of the grill racks
6 pieces of Focaccia bread from the bakery, if whole cut into 6 parts & sliced in half horizontally
6 slices ¼ inch thick of fresh mozzarella – aprox. 1 large ball
6 tsp of bruschetta topping – Delallo’s brand with San Marzano tomatoes

 

Instructions

Step by Step Instructions –

Filling:

In a smal bowl add:
7 heaping TBS of Ricotta
2 TBS Romano & Parmesan blend grated cheese
2 tsp Italian Seasoning blend
1 Egg yolk
Mix all ingredients well and refrigerate until building the burgers.

Burgers:

In a small bean pot add water and place on grill over high heat.
Bring to a boil.

Chop 6 lasagne oven ready noodles
Then add chopped noodles to the boiling water
Boil 2 to 3 minutes, just to soften but not to cook.
Drain and set aside till cooled.

In a large bowl place the 2 3/4 lbs. of ground chuck, 1 cup Romano & Parmesan blend grated cheese, 2 tsp Italian Seasoning blend, 1 egg, ½ cup Italian bread crumbs, ¾ cup of jar Sausage spaghetti sauce, 2 TBS sun dried tomato, 2 TBS Sutter Home merlot wine & the softened 6 lasagne noodles chopped. Mix all ingredients well. Separate the mixture into 12 equal parts and form into patties.

Take 1 patty and place 1 – 6th of the filling in the middle and top with a second patty and seal the edges to form a stuffed patty. Place on tray and continue building the 5 other stuffed patties.

Grease the grill racks with the Colavita Olive Oil.

Start the grill and preheat (15 mins) to a temperature of 450 degrees.

Place burgers onto the grill and close the lid, let cook 5 to 6 mins. Turn the burgers to create grill marks & cover, cook another 4 to 5 mins. Flip burgers, cover and cook 4 to 5 mins. Turn burgers to create grill marks, cover & cook another 4 to 5 mins.

During the entire time you are cooking the burgers, you are trying to maintain a grill temperature of 400 to 450 degrees.

To plate:

Slice the Focaccia if whole into 6 squares, then slice horizontally, keeping tops with their partners.

Place the bottom of the focaccia on the plate, spread each bottom with 1 tsp. of bruschetta topping.
Top with the burger and then top the burger with 1 slice of fresh mozzarella.
Place the focaccia lid on top and serve.
