Instructions

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high.

To make the Loaf’n around sauce combine all ingredients set aside and chill.

To make the burger patties, combine the chuck, sirloin, Zinfandel, crackers, ketchup, garlic, onion, egg, parsley, mustard. salt and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form the portions into patties to fit your rolls.

When the grill is ready, brush the grill with the olive oil. Place the burger patties on the rack, cover and cook, turning once, until done to preference, 7-9 minutes on each side for medium. During the final minutes of grilling, brush romaine lettuce leaves with olive oil and sprinkle with hot salt. Place lettuce on outer edge of grill and grill alongside patties for 1-2 minutes, turning as necessary. During final minute of grilling, add sharp cheddar cheese to burgers until melted. When lettuce is slightly crisp and slightly charred remove from the grill. When cheese is melted remove burger patties from grill set aside for a moment. Place split potatoe buns, cut side down, on the outer edge of the grill rack to toast lightly.

To assemble the burgers, spread a generous amount of Loaf’n around sauce over the cut sides of the roll. On each bottom, place a grilled lettuce leaf, a crisp tomato slice, a burger patty, add the roll top and serve.
