Manga Burger!

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.


2 lbs ground chuck
1 lg onion grated (with juice)
3/4 cup italian bread crumbs
2 eggs
1 cup grated italian blend cheese
4 large cloves of garlic minced
1 tbs sea salt
1 tbs freshly ground pepper
oil for grill
6 large slices smoked mozzarella cheese
12 slices italian bread
olive oil
6 peeled garlic cloves, halved
6-12 slices of vine ripened tomatoes
2 cups baby spinach leaves
12 basil leaves thinly sliced



Prepare grill to medium-hot. In a large bowl combine chuck, grated onion with juice, bread crumbs, eggs, grated cheese, garlic, salt, and pepper with hands just until mixed. Form 6 hamburger patties. Lightly brush oil onto grill and cook burgers 4-6 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Place cheese on burgers 4 minutes before done cooking. On italian bread slices, lightly brush with olive oil and lightly toast over indirect heat. Rub garlic halves on each slice of bread. Place burger on one slice of bread and on top of it place tomato slices, 1/3 cut spinach leaves and approximately two basil leaves. Top remaining slice of bread on top and enjoy!
