Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.

2 pounds ground chuck
4 ounces pepperoni slices – cut into sixths
2 ounces sliced black olives
1/4 Sutter Home Zinfandel
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Vegetable oil for grill
1 cup pizza sauce
4 ounces mozzarella cheese – grated
4 ounces cheddar cheese – grated
2 Tablespoons butter – softened
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
6 ciabatta rolls – split in half

Combine ground chuck, pepperoni, black olives, Zinfandel, salt, pepper, and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning. Mix well and form into 6 patties. Oil grill, and place patties on grill over medium-high heat. Grill 10 minutes per side with lid closed, basting every few minutes with pizza sauce. Combine mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. When burgers reach 160 degrees internal temperature, sprinkle tops of burgers with cheese mixture and grill until cheese is melted. Mix butter and Italian seasoning, and spread on split rolls. Place rolls split side down on grill until lightly toasted. Place burgers on rolls and serve.
