Maui Onion Burger

Pairs well with:

White Zinfandel

With strawberry and melon essences, this American original is perfectly at home with however you like to unwind.



5 large ripe plum tomatoes,
3 green onions, chopped.
3 tablespoons chopped FRESH cilantro,
3 cloves garlic, minced.
2 tablespoon olive oil,
2 tablespoon fresh lime juice.

For the Burgers:
1 1/2 pound lean ground beef,
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion, such as Vidalia.
1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley,
1/4 teaspoon salt,
1/4 teaspoon black pepper,
6 hamburger rolls.



Cut the tomatoes in half lengthwise. Remove seeds to avoid a watery salsa. Dice into 1/2-inch pieces. Place in medium bowl. Add chopped green onions, cilantro, garlic, oil and lime juice; toss to mix. Cover bowl and let stand at room temperature while preparing burgers. Prepare charcoal grill with medium high coals. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, onion, parsley, salt and pepper; mix well. Shape into six (6) good sized patties. Grill burgers for 5-6 minutes per side for medium doneness. Split rolls; place on grill until lightly toasted, about 1 minute. Place burgers on rolls and top with a generous amount of salsa.
