Melinda’s Gourmet Hamburger

Cabernet Sauvignon

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.


1/2 cup minced vidalia onions
1/4 cup finely minced mushrooms
3 Tbsp. butter
1 lb. ground sirloin
1 tsp salt
Pinch of black pepper
Pinch of fresh Thyme
1/2 cup Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon



Saute 1/2 cup minced vidalia onions and 1/4 cup finely minced mushrooms in 3 Tbsp. of butter until the onions and mushrooms are tender. Mix the onions and mushrooms with the raw beef, 1 tsp of salt, the pinch of pepper and the pinch of thyme. Pan-fry in equal parts of butter and Colavita Olive oil (about 1 1/2 tsps each). When patties are done to a medium wellness, remove to a hot platter and deglaze the pan with the 1/2 cup Sutter Home red wine. Be sure to scrape up all the pan juices and brownings and reduce the wine at least by half. Remove from fire, add a tsp of soft butter, stir briefly and pour over hamburgers. Serve with Fresh sourdough rolls or wonderful on onion kaiser rolls.
