Mexicali Blues

Pairs well with:

White Merlot

Imagine sipping a lighter Merlot. This fresh, pale-pink wine is a nice change from traditional red or white wines.

Ingredients

Topping:
1/4 cup whipped cream cheese
1/4 cup sour cream
3 tsp. taco seasoning
2 green onions chopped
Patties:
1.5 tsp chili powder
1.5 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1 LB ground meat
1 egg
1 Tbsp imitation lime juice
1 cup taco style shredded cheese
6 hamburger buns
Shredded Iceburg Lettuce
Diced Tomatoes
Oil or non stick spray for the grill

Instructions

To prepare the topping, in a small bowl mix cream cheese, sour cream, taco seasoning and green onions. Mix and place in refridgerator. To make the patties, in a medium size bowl place chili powder, garlic salt, red pepper flakes, ground beef, egg and lime juice. Mix until just incorporated…do not overmix. Divide meat mixture into six evenly sized portions. Take a portion and gently form it into the shape of a ball. With your thumb, gently press a well into the center of the ball, making sure not to go all the way through. Take a pinch of the shredded cheese and place it into the well, then close the meat around the cheese. Do this with all six patties. Pre-heat grill to medium-high, and oil the rack. Place all patties on heated grill, and cook approximately four minutes on each side, turning only once. To assemble the burger, spread some of the topping to the top of the bun. Place patty on bottom bun, followed by shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. Place top of bun on top of burger creation. Enjoy.
