¾ cup fresh blackberries, coarsely chopped
¾ cup fresh raspberries
¾ cup chopped, pitted fresh sweet cherries
1 tablespoon raspberry vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
s 1 package (3 oz) dried cherries
¼ cup Sutter Home pinot noir
2 pounds lean (85%) ground beef
1 cup cooked wild rice
¼ cup chopped green onions
¾ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper
Vegetable oil for brushing grill rack
6 whole wheat hamburger buns

Prepare medium-hot fire in charcoal grill with cover, or preheat gas grill to medium-high. To make salsa, combine all salsa ingredients in medium bowl; mix well. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. To make burgers, mix dried cherries and wine in large bowl; let stand 10 minutes. Add remaining burger ingredients to cherry mixture; mix well. Shape into 6 patties, each about 1-inch thick, pushing cherries to interior of patties. When grill is ready, brush grill rack with oil. Place patties on rack, cover and grill 10 to 14 minutes, turning after 5 minutes until medium doneness. During last few minutes of cooking, place buns, cut sides down, on rack to lightly toast. To assemble burgers, place cooked patty on bottom bun. Top each with about ¼ cup berry salsa. Add top bun and serve. Makes 6 delicious burgers
