Cabernet Sauvignon

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

I planted a small garden this year and was looking for unique ways to incorporate basil and peppers.Try the unexpected sweetness and spice of this Mediterranean burger. I think you’ll enjoy it with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon!

2 cups seedless red grapes
2 Tablespoons jalapeno pepper, finely diced
1 Tablespoon Sutter Home White Zinfandel Wine
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon pepper
4 ounces feta cheese, crumbled with basil and garlic
2 pounds ground beef
6 high-quality whole wheat hamburger buns
6 crisp Romaine lettuce leaves

Basil-Infused Mayonnaise:
1 cup mayonnaise
3 teaspoons lemon juice
1 Tablespoon Sutter Home White Zinfandel Wine
1 Tablespoon fresh basil, chopped finely
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon black pepper

1. In a food processor, chop grapes, jalapeno pepper, Sutter Home White Zinfandel wine, salt and pepper into a thick paste. Transfer to a large bowl, stir in cheese and combine with beef. Form into 6 patties.
2. Preheat grill on high. Reduce heat to medium. Place patties on grill rack over heat. Cover and grill for 16-18 minutes or until meat is done (160 degrees), turning halfway through grilling.
3. Meanwhile, whisk mayonnaise, lemon juice, wine, basil, garlic and pepper in a small bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside.
4. Place buns, cut side down, on the grill to lightly toast for 3-4 minutes. Generously spread mayo on top and bottom buns. Place burgers and lettuce between buns. If desired, add ketchup and mustard. Serve and enjoy!
