Mr. Merlot Burger To You

Pairs well with:

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.

2 lbs ground chuck
1/4 cup Merlot
1/2 tsp Kosher salt
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1 clove minced garlic
2 tbsp minced fresh basil
4-6 oz goat cheese
1 large ripe avocado sliced
6 kaiser or similar rolls

Pre-heat charcoal grill to medium hot fire or gas grill to medium high. mix together ground beef, Merlot, salt pepper and basil without over handling or compacting. Divide into 6 equal amounts and form into patties. press a small amount of garlic onto the outide of each patty then salt and pepper both sides. Place on grill and cooked to desired done-ness – roughly 12 to 20 minutes. When they’re close to being done – toast your buns!!! Just before removing burgers from grill, carefully brush or baste them w/ a little more Merlot. Place avocado slices and goat cheese on each burger. Condiments as desired but we recommend mayo highly.
