Muffaletta Burger

Ingredients

1/2 cup black olives, such as Kalamata, diced
1/2 cup pimiento-stuffed green olives, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon shallots, minced
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
3/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
1 egg
1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
6 slices smoked provolone cheese
6 hamburger buns
6 slices salami
6 slices honey ham

Instructions

Combine the black and green olives, garlic, olive oil, shallots, parsley, oregano, and black pepper in a medium bowl. Mix well and set aside.

Combine the ground chuck with the egg, the bread crumbs, and half of the prepared olive salad (approx. 1/2 cup). Form into 6 patties.

Place the patties on the grill over medium high heat and cook them for 3-5 minutes on each side, until desired doneness.

When the burgers are ready to come off the grill, turn off the heat and place a slice of provolone cheese on each burger. While the cheese is melting, place the remaining olive salad on the bottom of the hamburger buns, approx. 1 tablespoon per bun bottom. Take the burgers off of the grill and place on top of the olive salad. Top each burger with 1 slice of salami and 1 slice of honey ham. Place the bun tops on each assembled burger.
