Nutty Asian Burger

Pairs well with:

Sauvignon Blanc

With hints of passion fruit, melon, and citrus, this wine beckons you to kick back and find a perfect porch swing.

Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef
6 tsp minced garlic
6 tsp red wine vinegar
6 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
3 tsp sugar
4 Tbsp finely chopped peanuts
6 Tbsp finely chopped cashews
6 sesame seed rolls (I use Arnold Select brand, but other brand will do)
24 fresh snow pea pods
6 fresh scallions (called “green onions” in some areas)
1 can water chestnuts

Instructions

To prepare, first chop peanuts into finely chopped pieces. Chop cashews into finely chopped pieces. I use a hand chopper for this.

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients, except for rolls, snow pea pods, scallions, and water chestnuts. Mix thoroughly. Next, slice scallions into lengthwise pieces (about 2-3 inches long). Then, thinly slice 6 water chestnuts.

Preheat gas grill to medium heat. Separate bowl of mixed ground beef into 6 burger patties (I shape with my hands). Place burgers onto grill, still on medium heat. Cook for about 4 minutes on each side. Remove burgers from grill, and place each one on a roll. Top each burger with 4 snow pea pods, cut up scallion pieces, and a few slices of the water chestnuts. Preparation time is about 15 -20 minutes. Cook time is about 8 minutes.
