Oriental Style Burger

Ingredients

for 6 people
2 pounds ground round 85/15 or 80/ 20
6 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
5 cloves garlic, minced (garlic press)
4 tablespoons ginger root, peeled, grated (micro pane)
2 tsp. sesame oil
2/3 cup peeled, shredded carrots (1 large carrot)
3/4 cup red sweet pepper, chopped finley
4 tablespoon waterchestnut, minced finley
4 green onion, minced finley
2 tablespoon parsley chopped
2 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs (Japanese Style bread crumbs)
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. grd. black pepper
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Vegetable spray for grill
6 sesame seed kaiser rolls
6 pieces nappa cabbage, if large divided or 12 medium sized leaves
2 oz spicy sprouts (sandra Lee’s)
Topping:
1 cup radishes sliced paper thin
5 tablespoon red onion , minced
2 tabespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
2 tsp. sesame seeds
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. grd. black pepper
Spicy Mustard:
2 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tsp. grd. tumeric
2 tablespoon wasabi horseradish (inglehoffer)

 

Instructions

Topping:
Slice radish paper thin, mince onion.Combine in a small bowl with sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, salt, pepper and sesame seeds. Keep in refrige.
Spicy Mustard:
In a ramekin combine mayonnaise, tumeric and wasabi horseradish. Keep in refrig.

Patties:
In a large bowl add ground meat. Finley chop red pepper, water chestnut, mice green onions and garlic. Peel and shred carrots, chop parsley, peel ginger root and grate. Add to meat. Add hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, panko flakes,salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Combine well and divide into 6 equal sized patties.
Heat gas grill to medium heat.
Spray with vegetable spray.
Cook patties 8 -10 minutes depending on heat of grill. Turn once.
Toast buns on inside for crispness.
Burger assembley:
Spread spicy mustard on both sides of toasted bun. Place 1 or 2 slices of nappa cabbage on top. Add a patty and top with a little of the radish salad and sprouts.
Add the roll on top and serve.
