Santa Cruz Burgers

1 lb. ground sirloin
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup roasted pine nuts
4 sesame-seed buns
4 Tablespoons prepared hummus
4 teaspoons ketchup lettuce tomato onion



In a medium-sized bowl, break and slightly beat egg. Break up ground sirloin into small chunks and place in bowl. Sprinkle with garlic, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and pine nuts. Fold ingredients together with a wooden spoon until combined well. Do not overmix. Grill burgers over hot coals until done, approximately 5 minutes on each side. While burgers are cooking, heat buns, wrapped in foil, in oven on 275 degrees until warm. Combine hummus and ketchup. Assemble burgers by spreading approximately 1/2 tablespoon of the hummus/ketchup mixture on both halves of buns and topping with lettuce, tomato, and onions.
