Ingredients

1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup grated skinned, raw potato
1 egg 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
vegetable oil for brushing the grill rack
1 (3-oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1 (12-oz.) jar homestyle beef gravy
1/2 cup sour cream
6 kaiser rolls, split
6 lettuce leaves
6 red onion slices

Instructions

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat gas grill to medium-high. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, potato, egg, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce; mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form the portions into patties to fit the rolls. Brush the grill rack with oil. Place the patties on the rack, cover, and grill until browned on the bottoms, 5 to 7 minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium sized bowl, combine mushrooms, gravy and sour cream; stir well. Turn the patties and continue grilling until done to preference, about 5 minutes longer for medium. During the last few minutes of cooking, place the rolls, cut-side-down on the outer edges of the rack to toast lightly. To assemble the burgers, place a generous amount of sauce on each roll. Top with each with a burger, then a lettuce leaf and an onion slice. Add roll tops and serve. Makes 6 burgers
