Sesame Crusted Teriyaki Burger

Pairs well with:

Pinot Grigio

You won’t need a bouquet of flowers when you share our Pinot Grigio. This crisp wine with floral aromas is a wonderful way to make an entrance.

I have always liked the crunch and taste of sesame seeds and thought that they, along with the bite of the watercress, would bring a nice bit of texture to this burger.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80% lean)
3 Tablespoons teriyaki marinade
1/2 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
1/4 cup prepared wasabi sauce
2 cups watercress washed
12 Original King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls

Instructions:

Preheat grill to medium high heat
Combine ground beef, teriyaki marinade and black pepper, mix by hand to combine
Form 2 inch balls from the ground beef mixture
Roll the ground beef in toasted sesame seeds to cover
Press into patties 1 inch thick
Place on grill and cook to desired doneness (5 minutes per side for medium)
Hint: use tongs to turn burgers to prevent losing sesame seeds
Remove burgers
Slice 12 Original King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls in half and lightly toast both tops and bottoms on the grill (30-45 seconds)
Remove rolls
Evenly divide watercress among 12 bottom rolls, place burger on top of watercress, top with 1 tablespoon prepared wasabi sauce and top bun
Makes 12 burgers
