Smokey Cheddar Burgers

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.


1 1/2 pounds ground beef (I use 80% lean)
2 tbls Hickory smoked barbecue sauce (
1 tsp dijon mustard
Ground Chipotle pepper
Sharp Cheddar cheese, sliced thin
Lettuce leaves Ripe
Tomatoes, sliced
6 Whole Wheat or whole grain sandwich rolls



Mix the ground beef with the barbecue sauce & dijon mustard. Divide the mixture to make 6 burgers. Mold 2/3 of each of the 6 parts into a thin burger, place a thin slice of cheddar in the middle and cover with the remianing 1/3 beef mixture. Continue to shape the burger until the cheese in enclosed. Sprinkle each burger with Chipotle pepper to taste. A little for a mild burger, more for a spicy burger. Grill to your preferred wellness. Medium to medium well works best. Place on a whole wheat roll & top with lettuce and tomato.
