Strawberry “Jamin” Burger

Pairs well with:

White Zinfandel

With strawberry and melon essences, this American original is perfectly at home with however you like to unwind.

Ingredients

Jamin Strawberry Relish:
1/3 cup Colavita extra virgin olive oil
3 T Balsamic vinegar
1 tsp fresh lime juice
1 tsp honey
2 T fresh basil, chopped
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
2 cups Strawberries, sliced
1 T shallot, chopped
1 large ripe avocado, cubed
2 cups Romaine lettuce, chopped
Patties:
2 lbs ground chuck
1/4 cup Sutter Home Zinfandel
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
Colavita extra virgin olive oil, for brushing the grill rack
6 slices of Monterey cheese
6 Keiser buns, split

 

Instructions

Preheat your gas grill to high.
To make the Jamin Strawberry relish, whisk together olive oil, balsamic, lime, honey, basil, dry mustard, salt and pepper in a small bowl. In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, shallot, avocado, and lettuce. Pour small bowl contents over large bowl contents and toss together. Set aside.
To prepare the patties, combine the chuck, wine, basil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix together using your hands. Divide into 6 equal parts and form into patties.
Brush the grill rack with olive oil. Place the patties on the grill, cover and cook for 5 minutes. Turn the patties, continue cooking for another 5 minutes. Place the cheese slices on the patties during the last 3 minutes of grilling. Place the buns, cut side down, and the outer edges of the grill rack to toast lightly during the last 2 minutes of grilling.
To assemble the burger, place the patty on the bottom bun, place 1/2 cup Jamin Strawberry Relish on top of the burger. Add the bun top and serve.
Makes 6 burgers.
