Super Food Turkey Burger

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds of ground lean turkey
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 oz of cooked quinoa
  • 1 small diced onion
  • 1 diced zucchini
  • 1 oz of minced garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Kosher salt
  • white pepper
  • garlic salt
  • Swiss cheddar cheese
  • ( optional)
  • Caramelized onions
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • White button mushrooms
  • clarified butter or ghee ( olive oil)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  • Step 1 ) In a bowl mix in lean ground turkey meat, with cooked quinoa, diced onions, zucchini, and eggs to combine well. Next add some minced garlic,
  • 2 Teaspoon of kosher salt, white pepper, and garlic salt and mix it well.
  • Step 2 )
  • In a skillet or pan, turn the heat on to med-high temperature and add oil.
  • While it heats up form turkey patties either using a scale or estimates it to about 4.2 ounces in weight. Season with salt and pepper and brown on both sides and lay onto a sheet pan.
  • Step 3 ) Once all the patties are browned on both sides place the patties into a 375-degree oven for about 17-18 minutes depending on your oven it can be done faster.
  • Step 4 ) While the patties are cooking in the oven you can make caramelized onions and mushroom. Taking a skillet to add 2 Teaspoon of clarified butter or olive oil, let it heat up. Slice your large onion and white button mushrooms. Add the onions first let it cook for 2 minutes then add the mushrooms to caramelize together. Add two-three pinches of kosher salt to draw out water. It will take about 10-12 minutes to get it caramelized down to sweet goodness, so be watchful of it. Last you can add some pepper to season it. Turn off the heat and set it aside in a bowl.
  • Step 5 ) Once the burgers a fully cooked at 165-degrees you can set up your burgers. You can have it with whole grain bun, it can be with lettuce of your choice with the caramelized onions and mushrooms on top.
  • The best cheese for this is Swiss cheese but that is totally optional.
