Sweet & Salty Burger
4 Lbs Ground turkey
1 1/2 cups diced apple skin removed
6 Tablespoons honey
1 Tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
6 slices pineapple rings ,fesh or canned
12 strips bacon
6 slices red pepper apprx 1/2 inches wide, 3 inches long.
6 wholewheat burger buns
Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. Patties: Combine ground turkey,apple,honey,salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.Handling the meat as little as possible to avoid compacting it, mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form the portions into patties to fit the buns. Brush red pepper and pineapple with olive oil to cover both sides. When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with olive oil. Place the patties, bacon,pineapple and red pepper on the rack, cover, and cook, turning once, until done to preference, about 8 minutes on each side for medium-well. To assemble burger. Place burger on bottom half of wholewheat bun. Stack in any order, pineapple slice,bacon and red pepper.Place with other half of wholewheat bun and serve.
