Texas Smokey Onion Bacon Burgers
Ingredients
4 TBSP unsalted butter
1/8 tsp. hickory liquid smoke
6 onion kaiser rolls, cut in half
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck,
85/15 8 slices peppered bacon, cooked & minced
2 TBSP Onion Soup Mix
6 slices sharp cheddar cheese
6 tsp. Grey Poupon Mustard
6 tsp. Mayonnaise
6 large romaine lettuce leaves
1 red onion, sliced very thin
Instructions
Melt butter in microwave for 20-30 seconds. Add liquid smoke to butter. Split onion rolls and brush inside of rolls with butter mixture. Set aside rolls. In medium size bowl, add beef, minced peppered bacon, onion soup mix and remaining butter mixture. Mix together and form into 6 large patties. Pre-heat grill to medium high heat. Grill patties 3-4 minutes per side, turning only once. Take burgers off and top with cheese. Place buns butter side down on grill for 30 seconds. Take buns off and smear bottom buns with mustard and top buns with mayonaisse. Place burger on bottom bun, top with lettuce and red onion. Top with remaining bun. Serve!
