Texas Tortilla Burgers

3 lbs.ground chuck
1 tsp. each, hot sauce and garlic powder
1 tsp. each, kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
6 slices mild cheddar cheese
1/2 c. mild chopped green chillies,canned
2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
2 c. shredded iceberg lettuce
1 thinly sliced purple onion 1
2 chalupa shells



Mix meat with the next 4 ingredients. Shape into 12 thin patties,about 1/4 in, thick.Spray the rack with nonstick cooking spray.Grill the patties about 5 minutes on each side or until medium.Immediately top 6 patties with 1 slice cheese and 1 tbs. chillies.Top with the other patty and cover to keep warm. Heat the chalupa shells on the grill for about 1 min. or until warm.Place a double patty on a shell and top with tomato,lettuce,and onion.Place remaining shells on top and serve.
