Thai Basil Turkey Burger


  • Burger patty:
  • 1 1/2 Pounds ground turkey
  • Two tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • One tablespoon fish sauce
  • Six garlic cloves, crushed
  • Two Teaspoons white sugar
  • Toppings:
  • One red bell pepper thinly sliced
  • One yellow bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1-2 jalapeno peppers thinly sliced (three if you like it hot) or 1-2 hot red peppers.
  • 8 large shallots thinly sliced
  • 12-18 large basil leaves
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Bun:
  • 6 small Kaiser rolls


  • In saute pan cook shallots, red pepper, yellow pepper, and jalapeno peppers or hot red peppers in 2 tablespoons of olive oil until soft, about 5-8 minutes.
  • Remove shallots and peppers from pan.
  • Add additional 1 tablespoon of oil to pan.
  • Fry 6 eggs in oil. for 1-2 minutes per side. Break yolk before turning eggs.
  • Mix ground turkey with soy sauce, fish sauce and crushed garlic.
  • Grill burgers: Place the turkey burgers on the grill and cook for 3-5 minutes. Flip and continue to cook, for 3-5 minutes more.
  • Assemble burger: place burger on bun, top with fried peppers and onions, top with one fried egg and 2- 3 basil leaves.
  • Serves 6.
