The best “date” ever burger

This wine is bursting with crisp, refreshing fruit flavors like apple, pear, and melon, making you want to swing your legs off a dock at sunset.

Ingredients

5 T butter
10 fresh medjool dates, pitted and chopped
2 T curry powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
4 T hot water
1/2 C toasted pecans chopped finely
1 1/2 lb ground sirloin
1/2 lb ground bacon
8 cloves roasted garlic smashed into paste
4 oz crumbled blue cheese
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Veg oil for brushing grill racks
6 good sized pieces of rosemary focaccia split in 1/2 horizontally
2 Tbs olive oil for brushing foaccia

 

Instructions

For date sauce: Melt butter in sauce pan on med high heat. Add dates and curry powder, cook stirring frequently on medium heat for 2 minutes. Put date mixture in processor and puree. Slowly add salt and water. Set aside for use. In a seperate bowl, lightly mix pecans, ground sirloin, ground bacon, roasted garlic, blue cheese, salt and pepper. Form into six patties. Brush grill with veg oil. Place burgers on hot grill and cook about 5 minutes per side for med or until desired doneness. Set aside. Lightly oil cut sides and place focaccia on grill sliced side down. Toast lightly. Put 1 piece focaccia on plate and top with burger. Slather with date sauce. Finish with focaccia top. and prepare for this unique experience. Makes 6 burgers
