The breakfast burger

Pairs well with:

White Zinfandel

With strawberry and melon essences, this American original is perfectly at home with however you like to unwind.

Ingredients:

2 # ground sirloin
2 Tbl fennel seeds
1 Tbl coriander
2 Tbl Montreal steak seasoning
1 Tbl chili sauce
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
4 garlic cloves minced
2 c. shredded potatoes (store-bought hash browns)
1 med onion – diced
1 green pepper – diced
1 Jalapeno seeded and diced
4 eggs
3 tbl butter
Non stick spray
8 slices pepper jack cheese
½ c. maple syrup
½ c. honey
2 Tbl ancho chili powder
1 tsp salt
8 bagels
Aluminum foil

Instructions:

Preheat grill to med- high heat.

In a bowl mix together the first 8 ingredients. Form into 8 equal patties. Set aside.

Make an aluminum foil packet. Spray with nonstick spray. Add potatoes, onions, green pepper, jalapeño’s, eggs and butter. (hint: make a well with the potatoes and put eggs in the center.) Seal up packet and place on grill. Grill for 25 min. Every 10 min open packet and mix ingredients together, making a scrambled hash.

Ten minutes into grilling the potatoes, place patties on grill and grill for approx 8 min per side, turning once until cooked to med. Place cheese on patty and let melt.

In a small bowl mix honey, maple syrup, chili powder and salt. Set aside.

Split bagels and place on grill until lightly toasted.

Place patty on bagel, top with heaping spoonful of hash and spread honey mixture on other half of bagel and place on top of hash.
