The Ham-Burger

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.


2 lbs. ground beef
3 slices cooked ham (1/8 in. thick)
8 oz. pkg cream cheese (softened)
8 oz. pkg gorgonzola cheese
1 cup hot banana pepper rings (jarred)
1 roasted red pepper (diced) (jarred)
2 onions (sliced)
2 loaves chiabatta bread
1 stick butter



Step 1 – Prepare grill for direct cooking Step 2 – Spread softened cream cheese onto each slice of ham. Roll into logs and chill Step 3 – In skillet add butter and onions, cook until carmelized. Add 1 cup hot banana pepper rings. Saute until peppers are warm. (Set aside keeping warm) Step 4 – Make 12 1/4in thick patties Step 5 – Take out ham & cheese logs and slice into 4 slices (pinwheels) Step 6 – Place 2 ham pinwheels on the center of 6 patties. Top with remaining patties and seal edges tightly Step 7 – Grill until done (internal temp 165 Degrees F.) Top with gorgonzola cheese Heat until just melted. Step 8 – Place pattie on sliced bread. Top with sauted peppers,onions and diced red peppers. Top with remaining bread and serve. Salt & pepper to taste.
